Now you can make everybody think that you're at home even if you're on a date. Ring is an app that goes with you. Next to that, you have your location’s neighborhood. Below that, you see your timeline with all the events that happened recently. In general, this app is nice looking and with all the features you need with easy access but not amazing and pretty basr Ring Smart doorbells. It receives the live stream from them on your smartphone. Not only you can see what's going on outside your house, but you can hear and talk back to the people in the front of your doors. This app is owned by Amazon.

Interface 4/5

Nice slick design with brand blue and white colors and original fonts. On the top, there is your location shown. Lower, you have your devices’ icon which helps you to control devices installed devices in chosen locationlocatiic at the same time.

Features 5/5

One of the coolest features of the app is, Ring’s neighborhood, allows you to share security videos and communicate with other people living nearby who have Ring systems. Very smart way for Ring company to make everybody switch to their products. But it’s full possibilities are available only on paid subscriptions plans. There are two available, Basic for 3$ a month or 30$ a year, and Protect which is 10$ per month, or 100$ per year. They differ mainly in the company’s professional monitoring and discounts. On both of the plans, you can save your surveillance videos for up to 60 days.

Usability 5/5

It’s comfortabley to switch between Ring’s locations if you have your Ring devices installed at home and your office, or maybe if you’re rich and have two or more homes. In the free version of the app, you have your live streaming from the doorbells to your phone and you can talk back and hear the person outside your house. In the latest version, you can even unlock the doors. But you can’t save videos or see what happened once you’ve missed the call.

Compatibility 5/5

You can use Ring on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac. And you can download it for not only Apple (iOS 8 and later) but for Android (5.0 and later) and Windows 10 devices. You must have a working and good Wi-Fi connection. But usually the existing Wi-Fiwifi isn’t enough and you have to buy a Wi-Fi booster. Some people say that Ring does it on purpose so you’d buy more stuff from them.

Summary

The joy of using this app depends ondiffers from the smartphones that you use. It’s noticed that on Apple products it works better than on Android. We’ve tried it on iPhone and still, it didn’t open as quickly as we would expect. The video on it is also not as it’s shown on their promo clip. The camera on Ring products isare HD, but the end quality still depends on the Iinternet connection. In general, it’s very cool technology that, we  do believe, help to keep your property safe but it’s pretty new so better performance is on the way, be patient.

Pros:

  • A very unique and high-tech security system for your home
  • You can see, hear and talk to the person who’s ringing your doorbell
  • You can control and use the app when you’re away

Cons:

  • Not too good performance, it doesn’t open quickly
  • Not a lot of people use it, so there’s no demand for the app’s paid Neighbour feature
