Just like the Google Home icon on your browser, the Google Home app aims to make your work easier and enjoyable. The primary functions of Google Home app are to enable you to manage device settings, set up Chromecast, control google assistance preferences and backgrounds, and browse your favorite videos, music, and TV shows. Here is a detailed review of the main features and functions of the Google Home app.

The Google Home app interface is easy to navigate and is appealing. The homepage contains the discover and browse command. Google Home’s default destination is the discover section that offers tips on different features, apps, and offers. The search button is at the bottom next to the tags for Music, Movies, and TV shows. Through the display card available on the discover section, you can be able to see the app you are casting.

Google Home has some outstanding features including:

Devices tab

The tab allows you to set up, control home, play and pause items. You can also personalize the devices features. Google Home also enables customized answers as it integrates with Chromecast, maps and other apps. 

Night Mode

You can configure your app on specific days and hours to lower the volume and dim the lights when responding to commands. Also, there is a do not disturb mode that prevents sounds from reminders, notifications, and broadcast messages when in night mode.

Content from other parties

Supported services include YouTube Music, Pandora, Google Play music, TuneIn, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Google Chromecast, Vizio, Polk Audio, B&O Play, Sony, Netflix, CBS, the CW and over 1000 smart home services

Group Audio

Google Home allows you to create multiroom audio groups. Casting groups process is the same as that of one device.

Assist Cards

With these cards, you can optimize your devices. Some of the assist cards include

  • Voice Query - The voice query displays the questions you have asked Google assistant. Google assistant also provides conversational and contextual replies to your questions.    
  • Shelves and Services - Here, you can locate your favorite music, TV shows and films from the various services and apps.
  • Menu Drawer -The menu drawer assists you to control your device settings.
  • Offers -You can learn more about redeemable offers from content providers partnering with the app.

Browse Tab

Using the curated lists, you can find shows, movies, albums and videos personalized for you by apps such as YouTube and Google Play Music.

Good Home is easy to use and quite practical. You will need a few minutes to set up Home. First configure your Wi-Fi, then get the app. Once you have installed Google Home, you will have to connect Home to a google account before proceeding to enjoy the different features. With the app running, you can set up and control google assistant speakers, Chromecast (audio, ultra, TV or speaker) and other Google home devices. Afterwards, you can use the browse tab to discover a variety of TV shows, music, and videos to cast.

However, the Google Home is available in specific countries like the US, UK, Canada, France, Japan, Australia, and Germany. With the wide range of services, you have so much to discover and learn. As with any other app, Google Home has several pros and cons. 

Google Home app is an essential assistant for all plus it is relatively affordable. Google should make functional in all countries.
